A good Sunday read!

Today I watched on BYU TV a devotional from BYU Idaho given by Elder Steven C. Wheelwright. It was titled "Receiving the the Blessings of the Atonement". I was really touched by this talk. It touched on some things and helped me understand better why I am going through certain circumstances right now! If you need something to do and need a little spiritual lift this talk will help. You can read it at www.byui.edu/transcripts/devotionals/2007_05_01_wheelwright.htm

Enjoy!

How I lost my voice...

From a four year old. This is how our conversation went this morning:

Kade: "Mom what happened to your voice?"

Mom: "I lost it" (I can only whisper at best)

Kade: "where did it go? You had better go look for it"

Mom: "I wish I could find it"

Kade: "Open your mouth and let me see how loose it is"

Mom: "ok"

Kade procedes to look in my mouth and say: "Yep it is pretty loosed it must have gone to your butt".

Mom: "My butt, are you sure?"

Kade: "Yes, and you will have to wait for it to come back and you have to tell the frogs to leave too"

I dont know where he came up with all that, but If I could have laughed out loud I would have!

Overwhelmed??!!??!!

This week has been crazy! I cant tell whether I am overwhelmed, freaked out, or as usual making a mountain out of a molehill! To start out on my birthday I got sick! I have come down with a chest cold. My throat hurts and my kids are loving the fact that I am also loosing my voice and taking every advantage of it! So after my birthday lunch I veg and fall asleep with Kade on the couch! It was good to get a nap! I wake up later than I thought and the phone rings and it is my husband. He has been to the school to see Chantel at her Nation academic league game and is now at the chiropractor because he was in an accident between work and Taylor Jr high. Well the truck bed is pretty messed up and will need a new bed and bumper. The rest of the day goes good. I got flowers, the book "Eclipse" and a Costco cheese cake from my dear husband who somehow found time to get those things after all he had been through!

Thursday came and my husband had an endoscopy done because of his GERD. After the procedure the doctor brings me in and gives me the report. The dr. said he did good, BUT, he found some scar tissue that he did a biopsy on. He thinks it might be Barrett's syndrome. Barrett's syndrome is pre-cancer cells that grow in the esophagus and will either become cancer or will remain benign and be a bother to him the rest of his life. I am just a little freaked out because we have had 2 people in our ward die within the last year or two of esophageal cancer and another ward member who has it and doesn't have and esophagus any more and is miserable. If he has cancer all I can think of is how am I going to support three kids through every thing he has to go through and provide for a family! Ohh ..kay... I am really scared!
I dont think I will be all that easy until we get the results back on tuesday!

Well thanks for letting me get this off my chest and vent. I hope everyones day is going good!!

Our Times!!!

I recieved this email today from a friend and thought I needed to share it with all of you! We are all struggling with trials and thought this might uplift and help some of us (ME included) who have self doubt and need to be reminded that we really are a Child Of God.

How blessed we are to live during the administration and ministry of President Gordon B. Hinckley. Nauvoo , Illinois.

You were generals in the War in Heaven and one day when you are in the spirit world, you will be enthralled by those you are associated with. You will ask someone in which time period they lived and you might hear, "I was with Moses when he parted the Red Sea," or "I helped built the pyramids'" or "I fought with Captain Moroni." And as you are standing there in amazement, someone will turn to you and ask you which of the prophets' time did you live in? And when you say "Gordon B. Hinckley" a hush will fall over every hall and corridor in Heaven, and all in attendance will bow at your presence. You were held back six thousand years because you were the most talented, most obedient, most courageous, and most righteous.

Baked Potato Soup Recipe....

4 to 5 Baking Potatoes

1/3 cup of butter

1/3 cup of all purpose flour

3 cups of milk

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 cup bacon bits, divided

2 green onions chopped

5 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese

1/2 (8 ounce) container of sour cream

Directions:

1. Bake the potatoes in the oven or the microwave. (I prefer to bake them in the oven) After Potatoes are baked, peel and cut into cubes.

2. In a large sauce pan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour, stirring constantly till thick. Stir in milk a little at a time and cook about a minute. Stir in potatoes, salt and pepper, 1/4 cup bacon bits, 2 Tablespoons green onions and most of the cheese.(I did not add the cheese to the soup, I just served it on top of the soup) Cook until thoroughly heated. Stir in sour cream and heat through. Serve with remaining bacon, onion and cheese. Makes 6 servings.

Yellow

Take this test!

You're yellow, the color of joy and energy — two things you definitely bring to everyone around you. It's hard for anyone to be sad or lonely in your presence; your sunny disposition and cheery outlook just won't allow it. The warmth of your personality shines through in the kindness you show friends and family (and strangers, too). Always ready with a lighthearted joke or heartfelt compliment, you know how to make people feel good about themselves, so they can't get enough of you. Yellow is a warm and inviting color for a warm and inviting person — you!

Blessed

The Past two weekends we have had the blessings of family being sealed! A week ago Kirts sister Amber and her husband Jon were sealed along with their little girl Grace! It was wonderful to have family come and be together.

This weekend we had the blessing of seeing the adoption of Baby H. to my Sister and BIL and then wittnes the sealing of all three children to them.

I love the Gospel and I am truly blessed to have the knowledge that Families can be forever!

This post is for Amanda:);)

We have our own little Rivalry here. Elder Page who is one of our new missionaries is a "Texas" fan and plans on going there after his mission. Kirt graduated from ASU so he is a "Sun Devil " fan which made New Years interesting at our house. (We couldnt watch the game with the Elders at our house, but every now and then Kirt would go in and check the score.)
